Nonviolent Communication & Humanism - An Introduction to Nonviolent Communication from the point of view of a Humanist
This webinar will be an introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and how NVC aligns with humanism and humanist values. We will explore:
What is Nonviolent Communication? What research is there about NVC?
How people communicate in conflicts naturally, versus how nonviolent communicators approach conflict.
Ways in which people can become more effective at communicating nonviolently.
How can NVC aid secular and humanist youth, students, educators, and parents?
Luciano Gonzalez is a Puerto-Rican secular humanist and conflict worker who is actively working to train humanists in how to use peace theory and techniques to be more peaceful and to transform conflicts productively and humanely. He is the co-chair of the Latinx Humanist Alliance, an affiliate of the American Humanist Association that seeks to empower Latinx humanists throughout the country and beyond. He wants to one day create and lead an organization that trains humanists in peace theory and gives them the knowledge and training that conflict workers use to positively transform conflicts and creates the conditions necessary to make meaningful moves towards peace on familial and communal scales.
This webinar will be recorded and archived for use by Camp Quest volunteers and staff.
The Camp Quest Leadership Training Series is a peer-to-peer online learning community which offers secular organization leaders, educators, students, parents, and friends a safe space to explore best practices in youth development and humanist education.
