In recent years, Camp Quest has seen an incredible season of growth. Our camps are bursting at the seams with campers who are inspired to take life’s challenges head-on, armed with the skills and humanist values that they learn at camp – critical thinking, integrity, empathy, community, and creativity. We know that now, perhaps more than ever in our nation’s history, is a vital time for us to continue to advance our mission by providing more support for camp operations through robust, coordinated initiatives which strengthen and promote our network and the amazing opportunities that await even more children in communities we don’t yet serve.

Our annual report, Camp Quest: 2016 Year in Review, captures just a fragment of the accomplishments that our camps achieved in 2016. Thanks to the tireless work of our volunteers, we served 1206 happy campers – the most in Camp Quest history! 2017 is gearing up to be our biggest year ever with 13 camps offering 20 sessions of camp fun all summer!

As an organization, we also faced some particularly difficult challenges in 2016. You can read more about our present financial position on page 10 of Camp Quest: 2016 Year in Review. While we have taken immense strides in the last six months towards stabilizing our organization, we still have a long way to go towards ensuring that Camp Quest can continue to provide the vital services required of us as a national network while also meeting demands for growth and expansion. Donations constituted nearly 98% of our revenue in 2016. We rely on your donations to the Camp Quest Annual Fund to sustain our vision of a world in which children grow up exploring, thinking for themselves, connecting with their communities, and acting to make the most of life for themselves and others.

We are looking to the future with optimism and hope. Our new strategic objectives will ensure the stability of our network and the continuation of our mission for years to come. We will bring Camp Quest to more communities through supporting new sessions and camp locations with Camp Quest Expansion Grants, to which we have already dedicated $24,500. We will partner more closely with the American Camp Association to adopt industry-accepted standards of safety while also providing our volunteers with better access to professional development resources. Through the establishment of a new National Program Committee, Camp Quest will become an industry leader in secular and humanist education while we partner with our community members to develop research-based programs and educational practices.

We must keep Camp Quest alive for future generations, but we will be unable to do so without your support. Your donation to our Annual Fund will support the steps we’re taking to set a new, solid foundation for our future. I, and the rest of our Board of Directors, want you to be a part of it.
